Dear Clients and Friends,
In early summer 2023 we published Grass Routes, authored by our friend, Richard Pennell, a writer of near-poetic prose on the great game of golf and its especial and varied venues.
We are pleased now to announce the publication this week of Mr Pennell’s second book, Common Grounds, a volume of essays celebrating twenty-seven golfing sites in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and France—many less-trod—where “golf is our shared language…spaces where we come together, and build friendships, and share trust; the landscapes where we find joy, and meaning.”
As we have noted before, “Richard is a careful observer about golf’s many attributes, vicissitudes, and virtues and he has the talent to express each in wonderful prose.”
Here are excerpts from Common Grounds:

Common Grounds, in a limited edition of 1000 copies, is 212 pages in length, printed on acid-free paper with black-and-white images, sewn to a soft cover, and housed in an attractive slip case. Price is £15, plus postage and shipping.
Common Grounds is available directly from the author via this link to his website: https://pitchmarks.bigcartel.com. Other of Mr. Pennell’s writings can be found here: https://pitchmarks.substack.com.
With best regards,
