We are pleased to bring forth the very scarce Practical Golf Greenkeeping, written by W.K. Gault and published in London in 1913.  It is the first book dedicated to greenkeeping golf courses and written by a greenkeeper.
 
Below are excerpts from our publication’s preliminary pages, including the first pages in the Foreword, an informative joint essay by our friends David Hamilton at St Andrews and Brendan Cashell at Portmarnock.  An Afterword has been penned by Gary Johnstone, formerly at the links of Carnoustie and currently the Links Manager at Portmarnock Golf Club.  An Appendix includes articles written 1909-1910 by Gault for The Irish Field periodical.
 
Out press run is limited to 300 copies, printed on silk-coated acid-free paper, bound at 136 pages in Arbelave cloth with marker ribbon, and housed in a durable hand-crafted slipcase.  
 
The text typeface of Practical Golf Greenkeeping has been re-set to a high standard.  Design and typography are by Hughes & Company with printing and binding by Henry Ling Limited, both family-owned and long-recognized experts resident in England.
 
We are grateful to Nevin McGhee, archivist to Glasgow Golf Club, who brought this little gem to our attention in the first instance.
