Dear Clients and Friends,

We are pleased to bring forth a very early and significant entry in the Library of Golf with our publication of Golf  in The Kincaid Diary 1687-1688, which has important and expert analysis by our friend and colleague, David Hamilton—acclaimed and award-winning early golf historian—and Iain Forrester—a 5th generation Scots golfer, avid hickories collector and hickories champion, accomplished golf author, and an Advanced Fellow of the PGA of The Netherlands.   We are grateful to The National Library of Scotland for kind permission to transcribe and publish sections of Thomas Kincaid’s diary.

This volume is an important companion to David Hamilton’s Golf at the Beginning anthology of early Scottish golf (at Glasgow 1589-1787; at Aberdeen in 1636; at St Andrews 1712-1715; and at Leith in 1571 and Edinburgh beginning in 1672).  Golf at the Beginning was published by Grant Books Ltd in 2023.
